Kögel presents the new Kögel Port 20: The lightweight container chassis

Press release | 16.09.24

Kögel Trailer GmbH is expanding its successful container chassis family with a new model: the KÖGEL PORT 20. The three-axle 20-foot chassis, one of the lightest of its kind on the market, will be presented for the first time at the IAA Transportation 2024. With a possible, impressively low tare weight from 2,900 kilograms, the KÖGEL PORT 20 sets new standards in the industry and impresses with its optimal fifth-wheel load distribution and numerous equipment options.

The vehicle is being launched in a dynamic market environment that is constantly growing. It offers a contemporary solution for container transport companies that require maximum efficiency and flexibility.

Excellent load distribution for increased stability

With a possible tare weight from 2,900 kilograms, the KÖGEL PORT 20 is ideally suited for transporting heavy 20-foot containers. The wheelbase is offset to the rear to increase the fifth-wheel load and improve driving stability. As an option, the chassis can be equipped with a second loading position for cross-border transportation, which increases the fifth-wheel load by up to 30 percent. This variant also enables the safe transportation of C715 and C745 swap bodies.

Innovative features for greater efficiency

The KÖGEL PORT 20 can be supplemented with a range of innovative and practical equipment features. These include a rear ladder for easier access to the containers, an optimized rear design for improved protection of light load carriers and an integrated toolbox in the rear area, which offers additional convenience.

Sustainability and tested quality

Thanks to its lightweight design, the KÖGEL PORT 20 helps to reduce fuel consumption and therefore also CO2 emissions. It is already available with a tare weight of 2,900 kilograms when equipped with lightweight components. Based on Kögel's proven chassis designs, the new model impresses with its usual high quality and reliability. For 2025, Kögel is already planning the market launch of an even lighter, two-axle version of the 20-foot chassis, which is based on the three-axle KÖGEL PORT 20.
