Kögel develops Choceň into a technology center: High investments in production

Kögel Trailer GmbH is consistently driving forward the strategic development of its production site in Choceň. With investments in the millions, the subsidiary Kögel s.r.o. is being expanded into a modern technology center and production capacities are being significantly increased. The location is thus gaining further importance within the company's production structure in the long term. 

The first measures were already successfully implemented last year. For example, an existing warehouse was converted into a fully equipped production facility with an area of around 1,000 square meters. It houses a new automated laser cutting center and a new type of bending and folding machine.

Optimization of production

The million-euro investment ensures that frame production is faster and more cost-effective, as the entire production process is accelerated. At the same time, it increases security of supply, as production processes can be organized more independently of external supply chains. In addition to the frames for Kögel trailers - several hundred per week - complete vehicles are also produced in Choceň. The introduction of modern production technologies has also created additional jobs at the site. Output will be gradually increased over the coming months and the plant's capacity will be fully utilized by 2028.

The new systems were supplied by the technology company Trumpf, based in Ditzingen, a leading supplier of machine tools and lasers for industrial production. Trumpf provided comprehensive support for the project - from the installation of the systems to process integration and successful commissioning.

„The location in Choceň has been a central component of our production strategy for years and is of high strategic relevance. With this investment, we are specifically strengthening our manufacturing expertise and at the same time ensuring a reliable supply of frames for our trailers,“ explains Markus Siegner, CEO of Kögel Trailer GmbH.

Fit for the future

Further investments in the Czech site are already planned for the current year. The aim is to continuously modernize the production processes and to equip the site for future requirements in the long term. To this end, the installation of a new welding robot system for tipper bodies and vehicle frames is planned by summer 2026, and a photovoltaic system will soon be put into operation to supply production with additional electricity.

The plant in Choceň has been part of Kögel since 1996 and is a central component in the production of Kögel vehicles. Around 350 people are currently employed there.
