It is the megatopic of the industry: freight transportation on the road must become more climate-friendly. Kögel employees are constantly looking for ways to optimize the CO2 footprint of Kögel trailers - during the transport of goods, but also during vehicle production. Particularly durable, robust trailers, such as those manufactured by Kögel, lead to lower CO2 emissions, as energy-intensive new vehicle production is required less frequently. Sustainable components, such as those produced using recycled components, also play an important role. At the NUFAM trade fair in Karlsruhe, Kögel presented a new type of sliding curtain for curtainsiders made exclusively from recycled yarns. This eliminates the need to produce the primary materials for the tarpaulin fabric and reduces CO2 emissions.
Customers who opt for the „green tarpaulin“ do not have to compromise on essential functionalities. The innovative tarpaulin is just as UV-resistant and workable as a conventional PVC version. It can also be attractively designed as a company's business card using the well-known UV digital printing technology, which is also more environmentally friendly than other processes. This was demonstrated by the correspondingly covered Kögel trade fair vehicle at the Kögel NUFAM stand. The tarpaulin was a real eye-catcher during the trade fair. „Customers often asked me about it,“ says Kögel Product Manager Bastian Hönig. „The tarpaulin is a great thing and the idea of saving raw materials and CO2 during vehicle production is the right way to achieve greater sustainability,“ was the customer comment.
Customers will have to be a little patient before they can equip their trailers with the recycling tarpaulin. It is still a prototype. Kögel is working closely with its suppliers so that the recycling tarpaulin is available as soon as possible - in line with the company promise ‚Because we care‘ - because Kögel cares about sustainability in road freight transport.
