German Telematics Award 2024: Kögel Telematics wins over the expert jury
Kögel Telematics has won second place in the “Trailer/Swap Body Technology” category of the German Telematics Award 2024. According to the vote of the expert jury, this makes Kögel Telematics one of the best telematics systems for towed units.
It was a close competition in the “Trailer/Swap Body Technology” category of the German Telematics Award 2024. Kögel Telematics claimed the silver medal, having been narrowly beaten to first place. “The German Telematics Award 2024 is an important distinction. This outstanding result confirms the functionality and user-friendliness of Kögel Telematics,” says Thomas Gregor, Head of Kögel Telematics.
Kögel’s very own trailer telematics system is specially tailored to the requirements of Kögel trailers. It captures the relevant trailer data in real time and displays them on Kögel’s portal. Thanks to open interfaces, it is also possible to integrate data from Kögel Telematics in third-party portals. All data can be accessed on Android smartphones using the Kögel Telematics apps. Contracts tailored to the specific use of the trailer at a fixed monthly price round off the service.
Efficient combination: Tyre pressure monitoring and trailer telematics
Using analytical functions and status reports, the trailer telematics system helps to achieve high transport efficiency and guarantee the optimal condition of the trailer. Gregor goes on to explain “The flawless technical condition of the trailer ensures low operating costs”. For example, Kögel Telematics warns the operator of anomalous events, such as if the tyre pressure deviates from the target value. Due to the major influence of the tyres on the safety and fuel consumption of a truck, all newly registered trailers must be equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) from July 2024 onwards, in accordance with Regulation UN ECE R 141. The TPMS is most effective at avoiding increased emissions, operating costs and safety defects when warnings are issued via the trailer telematics. This allows dispatchers to ensure that the trailer undergoes a service as soon as possible.
Kögel Telematics also serves as the basis for full-service contracts from Kögel. These all-round care-free packages are available at affordable monthly rates for all new Kögel trailers and give customers high cost security during the useful life of their Kögel trailer.
German Telematics Award: The stress test for telematics systems
The German Telematics Award (Deutscher Telematik Preis) is one of the most coveted industry awards for telematics systems and is awarded annually. This year, more than 40 telematics solutions were voted on by the top-class jury, consisting of reputable industry experts. The committee not only evaluated the technical properties on paper, but also conducted practical tests on all the systems. The aim was to achieve a certain result in the shortest possible time and in the most user-friendly way.
