Kögel assumes social responsibility - not only at Christmas

Press release | 05.12.23

'Because we care': Kögel lives up to its corporate promise of social responsibility. During the Christmas season, as in previous years, the Burtenbach-based vehicle manufacturer supports parcel convoys with trailers and donations in kind to bring a smile to the faces of children and people in need. Kögel is also committed to road safety for children throughout the year as part of the Blicki blickt's initiative.

If it weren't for the many volunteers, there would be no presents for young and old at Christmas in many parts of Europe and even in Germany. There are still people living in our midst who cannot afford even the smallest of joys. The fact that these disadvantaged people also have a reason to celebrate is largely due to the work of volunteers and charitable organizations. Kögel supports charitable campaigns every year with donations in kind and vehicles.

After all, Christmas is also the time to think of all those who keep our economy running on a daily basis. While most people make themselves comfortable at home during the Advent season, many truck drivers are on the road, making sure that the shelves of supermarkets and department stores are full and presents are under the Christmas tree. Some of them do not have the opportunity to spend the holidays at home because of their important job. They stand with their trucks in the parking lots of truck stops and freeway service areas and spend this time in the cab.

The Blicki Christmas campaign brings a smile to their faces on Christmas Day. Supporters of the Blicki blickt's road safety initiative, including Kögel, will be handing out presents from Scania, Sonax and Kögel to truckers who are unable to spend Christmas Day with their families. The campaign will take place at rest areas along the A4 highway between the Auerswalder Blick and Hermsdorfer Kreuz rest stops.

However, Kögel is not only committed to the weakest members of society at Christmas. Monika Humbaur, Managing Director of Kögel Holding, is particularly concerned about the welfare and protection of the youngest members of society. Since this year, she has been an ambassador for Blicki e.V. The association has set itself the goal of improving road safety and making children aware of the dangers posed by heavy commercial vehicles. "I have a four-year-old daughter myself and I know that you can't make children aware of the dangers of road traffic often enough. A kangaroo coming into the schoolyard in a truck leaves a lasting impression on them," she explains. Blicki's campaigns are bearing fruit: since 2017, the association has already trained 67,000 children of primary school age. This has also impressed our Federal Minister of Transport, Dr. Volker Wissing, who has brought the project to the public's attention as Blicki patron. As an ambassador, Monika Humbaur raises the association's profile in Bavaria and helps to organize workshops in the state and in the region around the plants of sister companies Kögel and Humbaur in Burtenbach and Gersthofen near Augsburg.

Kögel provides trailers for several Christmas parcel convoys

Every year, Kögel provides the Johanniter Christmas truckers with a trailer. From the beginning of December, volunteers use it to transport aid packages containing food, hygiene articles and small gifts to various south-eastern European countries that are particularly affected by poverty. There, Johanniter and its local partners will distribute them to poor families, elderly people, schoolchildren and kindergarten children. Packages can be dropped off at one of the numerous collection points until December 15. All information about the drop-off locations and the packing list can be found at www.johanniter.de/juh/weihnachtstrucker.

Kögel is also once again supporting the Ramsperger car dealership from Sigmaringen with a trailer. The vehicle dealer is thus participating in the nationwide Christmas parcel convoy campaign (weihnachtspaeckchenkonvoi.de). This year, the presents are going to needy children in south-eastern European countries and in the Ukraine.

Christmas is also the time to think of truck drivers

The Kögel trailer for the MAN Christmas truck has also been a permanent fixture for several years. Employees of the Bavarian truck manufacturer use it to visit kindergartens, schools, clubs and facilities for people with disabilities in Germany, where they make children's eyes light up. In addition, the MAN Christmas Truck campaign volunteers distribute gifts to truck drivers at rest stops. After all, the company's motto is 'Because we care'. The promise not only includes a special commitment to all customers and the Bavarian-Swabian region where Kögel has its headquarters. The promise is also aimed at all those in need of help in society, children and the pillars of our economy, the truck drivers.
