Kögel focuses on training: School partnership secures skilled workers of tomorrow

Press release | 17.05.22

Kögel Trailer GmbH entered into a school partnership with the Thannhausen secondary school on April 26, 2022. On various occasions, the students can gain a practical impression of job profiles and career opportunities at one of Europe's largest trailer manufacturers.

When the certificate was presented by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) at the Thannhausen secondary school as part of a ceremony, Kögel Managing Director Thomas Heckel, responsible for Human Resources, explained: "Well-trained junior staff form the basis of Kögel's success! We are pleased to have concluded another school partnership with the Thannhausen Middle School and thus to be able to convince the students, i.e. the skilled workers of tomorrow, of Kögel as an attractive and secure employer."

"In-depth and practical career orientation enjoys a very high priority at Thannhausen Middle School. It is very important to us that young people get an early insight into the real world of work in addition to lessons in career-oriented subjects," said Matthias Unger, principal of Thannhausen Middle School. He was very pleased that the Thannhausen secondary school was able to win Kögel as a partner, one of Europe's largest trailer manufacturers and a dynamic company with a long tradition that offers the students of the Thannhausen secondary school training prospects in many exciting professions.

IHK emphasizes importance of school partnerships

Thorben Klein, team leader for career guidance at the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce, emphasized that partnerships between companies and schools are very important for providing students with orientation and guidance during the transition between school and working life. "I am therefore very pleased to present this certificate to Kögel and the Thannhausen secondary school. School partnerships enjoy a high priority at the Swabian Chamber of Industry and Commerce. We are very happy to support the partners in filling the cooperation with content."

School partnership is a benefit for both sides

Christina Horn, Head of Human Resources at Kögel, added: "The school partnership is a win-win situation for both sides. The students at the Thannhausen secondary school are given exclusive, practical insights into various apprenticeship occupations and can thus make a very specific choice for a particular apprenticeship that matches their interests and skills. Conversely, Kögel can convince the students at an early stage that the traditional Burtenbach-based vehicle manufacturer is an attractive and secure employer that offers a wide range of entry options and career opportunities."

Insights into the real working world and numerous job profiles

As part of the school partnership, pupils can gain a deep insight into working life at Kögel. To this end, Kögel offers, among other things, two-day taster days and one-week work experience. Furthermore, exploration days are possible, during which the classes are guided through the plant in Burtenbach. In addition, Kögel's HR department offers job application training, which helps the students to professionalize their skills and application documents. Kögel, in turn, is given the opportunity to present itself as an attractive employer on the many occasions while the students are still at school.

Kögel provides training in the following professions and dual courses of study:

  • Industrial clerk
  • IT specialist for application development
  • IT specialist for system integration
  • Design Engineering Mechanic
  • Metals technology specialist
  • Warehouse logistics specialist
  • Dual Study Business Administration Industry
  • Dual studies – Mechanical Engineering
