Attention, truck! Kangaroo Blicki makes Augsburg's streets safer for children

Press release | 17.05.23

Press event with presentation of the new Blicki ambassador Monika Humbaur and welcoming of the 60,000th child at the Blicki workshops on 24.05.2023 at 1.15 p.m.

With the support of the two vehicle manufacturers Humbaur GmbH and Kögel Trailer GmbH, Blicki e.V. is holding workshops on the dangers of trucks in road traffic in Augsburg from May 22 to 26, 2023. From Monday to Friday, the Blicki team will be visiting three elementary schools and training around 750 children.
This is because, on average, a child was involved in a serious accident every 24 minutes in 2021. One of them dies almost every week. Every accident is one too many! That's why mascot Blicki has been on the road in Germany since fall 2017 to show children the dangers of road traffic live.
The Blicki blickt's initiative is supported by patron Federal Minister of Transport Volker Wissing.
Since 2017, almost 60,000 children have been trained across Germany. The anniversary child will be welcomed in Augsburg on May 24, 2023. There, the entire week will be dedicated to road safety.
For media representatives, there will be a photo opportunity at 1:15 p.m. at Pestalozzi Elementary School, Brucknerstraße 1, 86368 Gersthofen, with the anniversary class and the mascot of the Blicki blickt's traffic initiative. We are also looking forward to introducing Monika Humbaur, the new Blicki ambassador.
"I have a three-year-old daughter myself and know that you can't make children aware of the dangers in road traffic often enough. A kangaroo coming into the schoolyard on a truck leaves a lasting impression. As a family-run company, we are delighted to have the opportunity to get involved in our home region with the Blicki workshops," says Monika Humbaur, Managing Director of Kögel Holding GmbH.
After all, the company's motto is "Because We Care," which translates into a special commitment to customers and a strong region. And from now on also for the youngest Bavarians.
